Tonight is a good slate of NBA games, which means great DraftKings opportunities to make good cash with high scores. With that said, here are our overall picks for March 18, 2017.
James Harden – $12,400
We know Harden is always a solid bet, and if you are a true DraftKings NBA player, you know the amazing value Harden has, even at $12,400. The value is even better tonight because the Nuggets give up the 4th most points to the PG position in DraftKings, so look for the Beard to have room to create in a big way & have great offensive opportunities. Yes, he is on the backend of a back-to-back, but the Rockets are looking to solidify their playoff standing in the west, so look for Harden to get another strong night, even if he does struggle a bit from the field.
Chris Paul – $8,200
Even though Paul is playing his 3rd game in 4 nights, we always take guys who are playing in high profile national games. In the one meeting this year against the Cavs, Paul had 40 DK points in 16 points, 6 rebounds & 9 assists. As the playoff seeding gets tighter, the Clippers are trying to get in position for a top-4 seed in the west, so look for CP3 to have a big night on the ABC stage.
Deron Williams – $4,400
This is a good play if Kyrie Irving possibly gets reduced minutes. Williams hasn’t had a ton of opportunity lately, but he has been a great pickup for the Cavs lately. He can run the offense well, and at this time of the year, having a good backup when starters might be resting for the playoff run is a great find. Pay attention to the starting lineups on DraftKings before this pick however.
Bradley Beal – $8,100
Beal has helped lead the Wizards surge this year into the playoffs with his sharpshooter style & being a great complement to the playmaking abilities of John Wall. Beal had his lowest DraftKings game in the last 10 games with only 29 DraftKings points – a great average no matter how you put it. The $8,100 is a bit of a higher price because of the inconsistency of the rebounding, but his overall scoring will be a big factor any night.
Jimmy Butler – $8,000
Butler, even on the back end of a back-to-back, is going to be a great play in DraftKings the rest of the season due to the Wade season-ending injury. After a subpar game on Wednesday that saw JB have 27 DK points, he bounced back to have a 47 DraftKings point night against Washington. I wouldn’t worry about Butler being fatigued on a back-to-back because his usage is going to be insanely high the rest of the year. The last game on the end of a back-to-back, Butler had 56 DraftKings points against Charlotte on Monday night. In Butler’s only game against Utah this year, he brought in 20 points & 12 rebounds.
LeBron James – $11,000
LeBron James has been on a tear lately, & with the lack of depth at the small forward position for the Clippers, James should light it up yet again tonight against the Clippers. In the previous meeting against LAC, James had 31 DraftKings points. With Kyle Korver, Iman Shumpert & Kyrie Irving (to a lesser extent) dealing with injuries right now, James has increased his overall productivity since the All-Star break as the Cavs try to hold off Washington & Boston for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. The team is working Kevin Love back into the normal rotation so James may have lower numbers going forward, but with his contributions in rebounds, assists, steals & being efficient overall in shot selections, James is a guy to feel comfortable building your lineup around tonight.
LaMarcus Aldridge – $6,200
Aldridge played on Wednesday after missing two games for the Spurs dealing with a heart ailment, something he has had to handle most of his life. He played strong minutes against Portland & is still a great option at a low price. He has had double digit scoring games in 9 of his last 10 games along with averaging 7 rebounds over that span. The Spurs may try to watch his usage & minutes just to be safe, but it doesn’t look like Aldridge had much rust from missing time & should be right back to his normal consistent DraftKings points style tonight.
Trevor Ariza – $5,300
Ariza has been a strong DraftKings NBA pick over the last several games, have no less than 28 minutes in any game over the last 10 games, & 9 of his last 10 games having over 20 DK points. Ariza is always a good option because of his 3-point shooting & the ability to make the open shots created from opportunities set up by the attention given to James Harden. An area that many people sleep on Ariza on is that he has over 7 rebounds in 7 of his last 10. The acquisition of Lou Williams has opened up just more opportunities for Ariza to be left alone regularly as defenses typically have to leave someone open in a possession rotation.
Rudy Gobert – $7,200
Gobert has been a monster all season for the Utah Jazz & any DraftKings owner who takes him. Because he plays in a market that most people don’t pay attention to, its easy to sleep on Gobert, but the debate can be made that Gobert has had one of the best seasons for a center in the NBA this year. He has double digit rebounds in 7 of his last 10 games, & in the only meeting against Chicago this year, Gobert had 40 DraftKings points – equating to 16 points & 13 rebounds.
Mason Plumlee – $6,000
Plumlee has been extended time with Wilson Chandler out for the Denver Nuggets right now. Plumlee has been using that opportunity to make a formidable frontcourt with the emerging Nikola Jokic. In 5 out of his last 6 games, he has over 30 DK points, with his one game being 21 points. As long as Wilson Chandler is out right now, the Nuggets will continue to use Plumlee in the frontcourt, forming possibly the toughest frontcourt to handle in the league – and yes that include Boogie Cousins & Anthony Davis.
